By lynda-bunnell (2011, HDC Publishing) "authorized by and in cooperation with Ra Uru Hu." Bunnell worked closely with Ra Uru Hu from 1999 onward, became Dean of the International Human Design School (IHDS) in 2006, and was entrusted with the school completely in 2010. Ra Uru Hu died on March 12, 2011, less than a month from his 63rd birthday — the book was published with a foreword/message from Ra dated March 1, 2011 (eleven days before his death) and with Bunnell as the surviving voice of the official lineage.

The book is positioned as the canonical Human Design reference. 1. Human Design is a revealed body of knowledge. Ra Uru Hu (Robert Allan Krakower) was an advertising executive in Montreal who walked away from his life in 1983 and ended up on Ibiza. On the night of January 3, 1987, he encountered "the Voice" — a "terrifying experience" in which a voice asked "Are you ready to work?" and for eight days and eight nights transmitted what is now Human Design. 2. Strategy and Authority is the catalyst of transformation. Ra's brief message to the readers (dated March 1, 2011) defines the heart of the practice: "Human Design offers a methodology uniquely tailored to your design that liberates you from 'not-self' conditioning. It is called Strategy & Authority and it is the catalyst of transformation." Each Type has a specific Strategy and Authority; living by them de-conditions the not-self.

3. "Don't believe a thing I tell you, try it for yourself." Ra's epistemic stance, reproduced by Bunnell, is experimental. The system is to be tested in one's own life, not accepted on authority. This is positioned as a strength against critiques.

4. The system is a "Science of Differentiation." The book's subtitle. The claim: Human Design differentiates each person from every other in ways no prior system has. The differentiation is technical (specific gates active or inactive, specific channels open or closed, specific Type) and vocational (each person has a specific role).
